The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me! I am starting this blog with the idea that I might improve my writing about my work. This is to help me shed light on what I am doing as far as my painting practice goes. I have another site that I have been putting together and it seems to me that there is something missing regarding just showing photographs of my work. The paintings I am showing in this blog are from the “Haystacks/Needles” series made with acrylic ink, tempera paint, collage and as you will see distressed relief elements on paper. Each painting from the series has its own beginning and ending. I make these paintings as a group and then condense the imagery or add elements that define and develop the structure of the individual pieces. These paintings are small by definition and have been a major source of things for me to look at and work on. All paintings from this series have been made during 2018. This is a way to keep your hand and eye in painting.

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
